The Mission of the Atlanta Association of Health Underwriters is to provide in-depth education, advocacy and professional development to its members so that they may better serve the public and decision makers in securing and maintaining health and related insurance coverage.   

Letter from the President 

Dear AAHU Members: 

The healthcare law is 3 years old and times like these, more than ever, we need to have a place to go for education, networking and support. That place for me is the Atlanta Association of Health Underwriters.  I take great pride to be part of this Association, the premier Association as related to health insurance and employee benefits.  It is my honor and privilege to be the president for 2012-2013 of this great Association. Our efforts are geared to maintain the private market alive and well while attempting to provide insurance to all. Our membership is diverse and serves the needs of the public and its Members.  AAHU has a board of directors that is elected annually, the board year runs from July 1^st thru June 30^th. We have board meetings every month of the year where committee chairs provide updates on the work they have done on behalf of the Association thru their committee. We have a great exchange of ideas, as mentioned before to support the Members and their clients. Every year, the board starts with a strategic meeting to set the tone and direction for that board.  

The Executive Board is comprised of the President, President Elect (Leslie Wiernik), Vice President (Mychal Walker), Secretary Treasurer (Pat O’Rourke) and Immediate Past President (Brent Simmons). These Members are active and they have done a great job and service to you. I would like to personally thank them for their commitment and participation.  I am proud to announce that AAHU earned the Gold Seal award by NAHU which is based on a number of criteria that a chapter must achieve. Earning this award is largely due to the efforts of the board and our executive administrator, Cathy Ford with AESI.
